Guess Who's 2!

I'm a week late, but here are pics of how we celebrated.

FAQ - I did make the cake, I wanted something small.

What Has Mommy Petrified?

I will tell anyone that we have been blessed beyond measure for many reasons with Cacy - and not just the obvious ones. No real transition to her sleeping through the night, or even in her own bed (it was probably harder on mommy than anyone). We took the pacifier away with little heartache. Teething has been okay, I know she has had some painful days and nights, but she is a trooper and I thank God for that daily. It's only hard to drop her off at daycare when she is not feeling well. Hard for both of us, but much harder on her of course. She is a very happy baby.  With all of that, I am so very intimidated by the next big thing coming our way. POTTY TRAINING... dun dun duunnnn.

I think that potty training will be the hardest thing I have yet to do, outside of giving birth, in her very short lifetime.  All anyone can tell me is, oh girls are easy to potty train. Um, I'm sorry, but that really doesn't make me feel better.  I have no idea of how to communicate with my almost two year old on how to let me know in advance that she needs to go potty. One of the latest developments is she says, "I boo boo.", after she poops. If she lets us know in advance, I run her to the potty. She sits and plays with me, sings songs, and has conversations. But she has never done anything in the potty or toilet.  I have made a song, it's called "Boo Boo in the Potty". She sings it randomly. But we can't connect the potty to the boo boo. But we have two more months until she is officially two, and I need to really get serious.

This Week's Shenanigans

The 15th was Pirate Day at the daycare. Thank you God for the creator of Pinterest. It's so useful. Space Safari is coming up at the end of the month. I have already started looking for things at home to use.

We went to the park a couple of days this week. This week, she took off running a couple of times on the trail. It could be because that's where I run with her on Saturday mornings (when we are not at the gym). When she grabbed the stick, I had to get a picture.

New developments

She is counting and saying her alphabet and you can understand what she's saying. She will point at numbers and no matter what the number is she will first say "8". And when she points at letters no matter what they are she will usually first say "S". And she has been saying a bad word, "mine"! We have no idea where she learned this word. Her teacher at daycare mentioned it too. She thought she had spent time with older kids over the weekend, but no that was not the case. She must have heard it on TV. The only other alternative is that she is not actually saying mine, but some other arbitrary word she doesn't understand (he he, anything's possible, right?)

Also, she is the loudest child at the library. And when it's time to go, I usually grab her as she's yelling "Nnnooo! Nnnoooo!!!. This week, she decided to run and lay face down on the carpet and cry. If I can afford it, she is definitely getting acting lessons!

When I last checked she was 33" tall, this means she grew one inch in two months. I will check again at 22 months (Aug 30 or early Sep).

(Not the outfit she left home in, she got dirty at school).

First Family Vacation

This is our first family vacation. We are at Myrtle Beach. Cacy can say water and beach. She is having a blast! We have been to the pool and ocean. Last night was our first night here and she was up past midnight - putting on a show.

Speaking of putting on a show. She just shut a party down!! She danced the entire time. She picked up a few more fans ;). I see the role of Momager in my future.

Fun with Granny and Donations (17 Months Old)!

My darling little girl is growing up! Miss Independent.  She has been a quite clingy this week, but through it all I can see the changes.  She wants to walk every where now, she doesn't really care to be picked up unless it's for a reason, or unless she is really tired.  She is picking up more words.  The word of the week is "bubbles".  She wants to go "out" and play "bubbles". She is quite intuitive.  She is learning more each day, so no more free reign.  No more watching R rated movies while she plays! She grabs the keys and tries to open the door.  She grabs her bubbles and heads for the front door.  She tries to feed us.  The other day she grabbed a wash cloth and gave her baby doll a bath. This is a bit of a relief to me, and I am sure all moms will know.  If something tricky happens to her, she will be sure to mimic the activity.

This past week she got to spend a little time with Granny. WHO held her most of the time, so "deprogramming" her was fun ;).  But we had a lot of fun, and it was nice having Granny in-the-house!  Here are some pics.

I'm pulling out old items that can be passed on, donated, or sold.  All of the old toys get a once over, of course.  When I pulled out the bath time seat, I had to take pics.  I warned her not to try to sit in it because I thought she might fall, but she did without falling. Then she tried to get out, hilarious, and of course she fell.  Then she tried again, of course!!

Mommy Daughter Pedis

We had pedicures today! I will let Cacy do a foot soak with me, but she never gets polish. Today she got polish. I think she likes it. She keeps looking at her toes and grabbing them.

No Mas Binky

As of today, we are celebrating the 1 week-a-versary of not using the pacifier in this house.  Cacy is doing pretty good.  She is chewing and sucking on her shirts, seat belt straps, buttons, and zippers.  It's dangerous and disgusting, but otherwise she is doing pretty good.  Bed time is not fun, because before we used the pacifier as a crutch.  Truthfully before getting rid of the pacifier, we only used it for specific tasks.  Getting her to sleep and consoling her when she was in a state.  I noticed that if she saw it sitting around, she would grab it.  I would take it away, and she didn't care.  Plus she is transitioning to a new class next month, and they will not use the pacifier at all.

I really missed it Monday morning.  We had a bad morning.  Sunday night/Monday morning she was up to 1:00 am!!!  It was torture.  She didn't want to get up Monday morning.  And once I started to do her hair she proceeded to cry for 1 hour!  She unintentionally got her first time out.  She wouldn't stand on her own, she wouldn't stop crying, and she wouldn't cooperate, so I put her in her crib, turned on Mickey Mouse Club House, and let her cry, while I prepared for us to leave.  It was awful, I know she felt horrible.  However, when I finally went to get her, she let me do her hair.  She had adjusted her attitude just a little.  She took an early nap at daycare and all was well the rest of the day.

With all that said, we have picked her up from daycare and found her twice with the pacifier over the last week.

TALES FROM THE DAYCARE - I found out today that my Cacy has another admirer at school.  He wants to follow her, touch her and just be near her.  She is having none of it apparently.  She runs away and waves him off.  They were in the same wagon one day and he put his arm around her shoulder and she shook it off.  That she definitely gets from me!
